Home Reno Progress: Carpentry

April 12, 2015 Leave a comment

this post was abit delayed, cos our carpentry was mostly done more than a month ago hah. we were largely pleased with the workmanship of mr K on the carpentry. and really liked that all his carpentry comes with internal coloured PVC rather than the default white. i guess that makes a lot of difference and immediately increases the aesthetics by a few notches hah. however, i hav a tinge of regret over our choice of laminate. it looks better on a small surface area (the sample piece) as compared to a large one (on the carpentry). i would hav chosen another design if i can do it all over again. hence, my advice when choosing the laminate – request to see a larger sample or even better, a real-life piece of carpentry, rather than jus relying on the small piece of sample.

anyway, the amount of carpentry we have are pretty standard. for kitchen, we have one side with top and bottom cabinets and the other side with jus the bottom cabinet. for living room, we hav a half-height shoe cabinet and settee by the window. for yu en’s bedroom, we have a casement wardrobe. for our walk-in wardrobe, we have a sliding door wardrobe and a chest of drawers. for master bedroom, hmmm no carpentry hah. for both bathrooms, we hav framed mirror with vanity top and cabinet. and we also hav a cabinet at our service yard. all our carpentry used the same laminate – Lamitak Amber York Teak (WY 5232D). and for kitchen’s counter-top and bathrooms’ vantity top, we used quartz. all normal hinges with soft closing, nth fanciful like blum which is good but we cant afford hah.

2 of our favourites gotto be the sliding door wardrobe and our settee at the living room, which provides extra seating as well as storage space!

with carpentry done, we also got mr K to help us drill some holes and fix up some accessories – eg full-length mirror in the walk-in wardrobe, our red mailbox, 2 shelves on the white brickwall etc. and also got him to do some rectifications and a 2nd chemical wash which have since been completed. i guess we are all done now, and we are ready to make our final payment of 5% to him anytime.

some decor items and shelves

all in all, i would say we are quite happy with mr K’s services although his quote is not that cheap. he has a reliable and good team of workers in the diff areas – wet works and tiling, carpentry, plumbing, electrical works, aircon and painting. our reno journey was not all smooth-sailing, but there was nth that he couldnt solve. there were quite a few issues that we only found out in quite a late stage, but he was willing to fix them for us without any extra charges. really appreciate that. hence, we would certainly recommend mr K to anyone interested in such decor theme he is very experienced in.

Yu En’s 2nd Haircut at EC House

September 14, 2014 Leave a comment

baby yu en had her very first haircut when she turned 4-month old, where she shaved all her hair hah. this was accordingly to some Chinese tradition, and shaving the hair would ensure her hair grows out nicer. though I don’t really buy that, we just followed the custom.

her hair grew out quite slowly I think. after almost 6 months since her first haircut, she still doesn’t have a lot of hair. however, it was getting a little untidy and uncomfortable for her I guess, so we decided to bring her to her 2nd haircut. there are some salons that specially cater to kids and babies, and they charge exorbitant rates! more than $20 for a haircut for a kiddo? seriously. so we are not going to pay that kind of money obviously hah.

we went to EC house instead, the chain that charges a flat $12 for each haircut. happy to know that the outlet at westgate caters to kids and babies too. the chairs are in the form of those kiddy rides to distract the kiddos! we paid $12 and waited for our turn. the whole haircut was kinda fast (maybe cos it was supposed to be just a trim anyway). which is a good thing as it is kinda impossible to expect a kiddo to remain seated for a haircut that takes too long hah.

we were quite pleased with the results lah. I mean it wasn’t like gorgeous or wad, but I guess it served its purpose and was money well spent! would go back there for yu en’s next haircut certainly hah.

Off the Beaten Path

July 6, 2014 Leave a comment

soon this will be a home and decor blog hah. these days, in the anticipation of our new hse, wad excites me are all things home and decor related – renovation, furniture, electronic appliances etc. many weekends, i will drag wifey to visit some furniture stores to look look see see. besides those in easily accessible locations like shopping malls, there are actually many hidden places for furniture in singapore! so over a few weekends, we explored some of them and i really like a couple of them.

1. Commune Warehouse – 28 Defu Lane 4, Singapore 539424

i have always like furniture pieces from commune, where they have their flagship store at millenia walk. i wld gladly get my dining tables and chairs/bench, TV console, study desk and other stuff from them! at their warehouse located at defu lane, there is a wide selection available. the space is big and looks like a proper showroom instead of a messy and stuffy warehouse which we would hav thot. definitely worth checking out if you are into mid-century-ish and high quality woody furniture.

2. Star Living – Labrador Branch, 1 Pasir Panjang Road, Singapore 118479

star living has many branches around singapore and they offer pretty affordable furniture. they carry many different series of furniture but not all appeal to us. we especially like its JotterGoods brand – very nice pieces that can fit well into the theme we want for our home. DecoTalk is not bad too with its recycled wood furniture. and star living is where we have eyed our ideal sofa, selling at only $990! hopefully that sofa is still available when our house is ready.

3. Grafunkt Flagship Store – 85 Playfair Road #02-01/02, Tong Yuan Ind. Bldg, Singapore 368000

grafunkt is a local designer brand and their furniture is simply sexy and charming! but their price tag is quite out of our world too hah. so it is a place where we can only window shop and admire the sexy curves of their furniture. the flagship store is pretty spacious and well stocked with their pieces. very good place to shop, if your pockets are deep enough. if not, no worries, still a nice place to look see look see and maybe get some inspiration hah.

4. Tan Boon Liat Building, 315 Outram Road, Singapore 169074

this is not a furniture shop. it is an industrial building that houses quite a few nice furniture stores. my favourites include Pomelo (#10-04), The Shop House (#07-03), Mountain Teak (#07-02), Journey East (#03-02) and Make Room (#10-01). however, as much as these stores have beautiful furniture (esp Pomelo) and home decor items, the prices are kinda out of our budget as well (ok to be fair, some stores do have furniture with decent prices hah). but it is still a nice place to visit since you get to see so many different stores under one roof! and you can stop for a break at the coffeeshop below when you are tired from all the shopping there hah.

5. Hommage Lifestyle – 40 Jalan Pemimpin Tat Ann Building #03-02 Singapore 577185

first chanced upon hommage lifestyle on facebook and upon visiting its website, got attracted to some dining tables that they sell. hence we headed down to take a look at its showroom. to be honest, the first look was pretty disappointing as its showroom was pretty run-down and mostly stocked with pieces that we dont like. the showroom jus doesnt really look like wad we wld expect by looking at its website. however, in the midst of it lies a couple of gems. may not worth a special trip down for us, as most of their furniture does not belong to the kind of style we are looking for.

6. Second Charm – Blk 21 Kallang Avenue, #05-165, Mapletree Industrial Building, Singapore 339412

second charm is an interesting store, especially for vintage and mid-century furniture lovers! as the name suggests, they specialise in giving old furniture a new lease of life. however, they also do customisation. oh, and they use only solid teak! so simply tell them your requirements or show them a pic of your desired piece, they will b able to recreate it for you. their showroom (or warehouse?) is located at 2 different floors within the building and is filled with lots of old and new furniture, where you can easily look at their quality of wood and workmanship.

7. Comfort Design – 110 Eunos Ave 7, Comfort Design Building Singapore 409573

comfort design has many affordable furniture available too. in their showroom which spans 3 levels, it is not hard to find something you like. they kind of specialise in chairs and tables, thats why they are also known as the chair and table people hah. definitely worth a trip down to pick up some nice chairs at good prices.

comfort design

comfort design

okie these are some of the off-the-beaten-path furniture stores we hav been to. of cos, for all of our trips, we left empty handed although we may hav seen pieces we like very much and at the right prices, simply cos our house is far from ready hah. but well, it is not bad to jus window shop now and get a visual idea of wad may work for our future home!

Amazing Lunch at Ember

i hav heard so much about this restaurant called ember, located at hotel 1929 at keong saik street in chinatown area. frens who hav been there raved abt the food, and hence i hav been always wanting to try it one day. a dinner at ember is not cheap, can easily hit $100 per person for a full course dinner. hence, as recommended by frens, it is better to experience ember during lunch, much easier on the wallet hah.

we finally made our maiden trip to ember a couple of weeks back on a friday where both of us were on leave. thank goodness we arrived jus in time to snap up the last available table (the whole restaurant was fully booked except for that one table!) hah. the couple who arrived jus a minute after us was turned away. phew. but lesson learnt – table reservation is necessary!

ember at hotel 1929

ember at hotel 1929

the 3-course set lunch is at $42++ per person, and it consists of an appetizer (top up $6++ if foie gras is chosen as appetizer), a main and a dessert. unlike a typical set lunch, this one at ember offers many choices for each category! definitely spoilt for choices. however, we already knew wad we wanted as we hav read up some reviews abt it before heading down hah.  for appetizer, i chose the roasted and poached foie gras with mirin and shoyu, shiitake. that was my first time eating foie gras and it was out-of-the-world amazing! totally melt in your mouth with super full flavour! worth every single cent of the $6++ top-up hah. dear had some scallop appetizer which is good too, but not yet the amazing level hah.

melt-in-your-mouth foie gras!

melt-in-your-mouth foie gras!

for mains, dear had the pan seared chilean seabass with mushroom and smoked bacon ragout, truffle yuzu butter sauce. for me, it was crispy duck confit with new potatoes, caramelised onion- thyme jus. both were heavenly! and the portion was actually pretty big, even for big eater like me hah. we enjoyed every single bite of the wonderfully-executed dishes. by the time we finished our mains, we were already pretty full.

our heavenly mains!

our heavenly mains!

however, there was always room for desserts. we chose the classic warm valrhona chocolate fondant with vanilla bean ice cream and the more special crispy caramelised pear tart with homemade baileys ice cream. i liked both, really delicious and a good sweet ending to our lunch.

sweet ending to the amazing lunch

sweet ending to the amazing lunch

finally we got to experience the amazing meal at ember! the bill came to slightly more than $100 for 2 of us which is not cheap by my standards. however i felt the money well spent for the high quality of food and the immense satisfaction level hah. once in a while, it feels great to splurge like that! besides the food, service was also quite good overall. we will certainly be back again, some day. i wanna enjoy the foie gras again and try other mains on their menu hah. anyway, a highly recommended place. do try it if you have not!

Of Run and Food

December 8, 2012 Leave a comment

it has been a couple of weeks since my last update on this blog. hav been pretty tied up with wedding prep and also hav been working pretty late these days!

anyway, last sun went for the stanchart run. not full marathon la, jus a 10km run haha. jus like previous yrs, i joined as part of team UBS and only had to pay a subsidised fee of $20. and on top of the race pack by the organiser, we were also issued an UBS singlet. come to think of it, i hav like 5 or 6 UBS singlets alr man hah.

stanchart 10km run, 2 dec 2012

stanchart 10km run, 2 dec 2012

managed to clock a timing of 56 mins. worse than wad i had expected, but still OK la hah.

and also on last sun, we finally managed to try the popular restaurant, saveur. it is a french restaurant at bugis area, serving great french food but at super affordable prices! it was so popular that queues were alr formed before the restaurant opened at 6pm. we joined in the queue and managed to get a table as soon as it opened hah.

cheap and good french food at saveur

cheap and good french food at saveur

we ordered a pasta appettiser, a duck confit, and some chicken dish. taste great, especially the duck confit! at abt $15, it is such a steal seriously. we also orderd a tart desserts after our meal but that turned out quite disappointing. but overall, it was still a wonderful meal! we will definitely be back to try other mains like cod fish and pork belly hah.

really a must-try place!

A Gem in Changi – The Coastal Settlement

February 14, 2012 Leave a comment

this pretty new restaurant-bar located in changi was featured in sat’s Life! section of ST. and we decided to check that place out on the very same day hah. called The Coastal Settlement, this place has great decor (think vintage and modern-chic) and has both indoor and outdoor dining areas. interesting decor items include 4 vespa scooters! and lots of small retro-vintage items on display everywhere. also, with many diff seating arrangements available, this restaurant-bar is great for a grp of frens to chillax.

hidden gem - the coastal settlement

great place to chill the night away

we reached the place at abt 7plus pm without reservations and it was fully booked. damn. we decided to take the bar counter instead of sitting outside hah.  the food they served include asian-local stuff like laksa, and also western stuff like pizza, pasta, fish and chips etc. dear had sausage with rosti and a hot mocha, while i had prawn aglio olio with a pint of ice cold kronenbourg lager hah. they also hav beer served in a nice eiffel tower (3 litres!) hah. so nice, hope can try next time. food are decent, but prices are not exactly cheap.

our dinner

think this is a place i will return, though it is so far from our place hah.

Running with Runkeeper

May 23, 2011 Leave a comment

have been trying to start running to keep fit. since now i usually end work at 5plus 6pm, sometimes i can reach home before 7pm. so quite a good time to go for a run before having dinner at home. and there is this free app called “Runkeeper” which is very useful for running. it keeps track of the distance covered, the pace you are running, the time taken, the calories burnt and it plays music from your ipod playlist. it also charts the route you ran on the map. and at regular intervals, say every 5mins, it will report the distance covered and your average pace. good stuff.

runkeeper, my running companion

over the past 2 weeks, i have done only 3 runs but at least i am starting hah. will try to increase the frequency to at least 2 runs a week, abt 30mins (covering abt 5km) each time. shouldnt be too hard to do. shall have the discipline!

and hope thru this i can become fitter, healthier and shed some weight also haha.

been to 2 restaurants in the past week that are great for gathering with a grp of frens. so here im sharing with everyone!

recommendation 1: 15 minutes cafe and bar, in laselle building, 1 McNally Street 187940

15 minutes

a colleague brought us there last thurs evening. a really nice place for a group of frens to hangout, chill and chit chat. located in the artsy laselle, this cafe is like a glasshouse with high ceilings. the canteen-style table and bench can sit 8 ppl comfortably ha. food wise, the pizzas are not bad. the chicken wings can try too. burger is a no no and pastas are a tad too salty. but well, this place wins at its ambience and design la. there is a live band playing on wed, fri and sat too!

recommendation 2: pepperoni pizzeria, 7 Binjai Park 589821 (another outlet at 6 Greenwood Ave 289195)

pepperoni pizzeria

first went to the greenwood ave outlet several months ago with impre programmers for our gathering. a very nice and relaxed place tucked in bt timah area. went with dear last fri but found that it was closed for renovation. but pasted on their closed door was a notice saying they have a new outlet at binjai park and so we went! nice decor too at this new outlet, with old-school american theme. they are famous for thin-crust pizzas and you can choose 2 different toppings on one pizza. would like to try the super XXL pizza, which measures a whopping 21 inches in diameter, the next time i get to visit with a grp of frens ha. another must-try is their portobello mushroom which is super good and super big!

gather ur good frens and check out these 2 restaurants soon!

Life Is a Choice. Choose Happiness

saw this on facebook. thot it is pretty meaningful and so here i am sharing with everyone.

Five Regrets of the Dying By Bronnie Ware Platinum Quality Author

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives.

People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality. I learned never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually acceptance. Every single patient found their peace before they departed though, every one of them.

When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people have had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honour at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.

This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip.  But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end. That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content.  When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.

When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

Size Does Matter

September 21, 2010 2 comments

read abt beeconomic from a magazine and thot it was a brilliant idea. beeconomic’s business model is great. this is how it works: each day, it features a deal on cool things to do, see and taste in singapore at heavily discounted (at least 50%) price. it could be restaurant vouchers, massage deals, or even pole-dancing classes! however, the deal is on only if enough ppl bought it before a certain cutoff time. the min no. required to activate the deal is fixed by the merchant and you can monitor real-time on the website how many ppl hav bought the deal. if the deal is on, you will make payment and receive a coupon to redeem the deal. if the deal is off, you wun be charged at all.

beeconomic

interesting concept huh. and it is a win-win for businesses and consumers. businesses get prepaid, guranteed no. of customers and gain publicity (thru beeconomic’s advertisement and thru ppl’s word-of-mouth over facebook, twitter etc. in order to get enough ppl to buy the deal). consumers, on the other hand, benefit from the huge discount and get ideas on wad to do, where to go, wad to eat etc. haha.

brilliant.

upon googling, find out that there are other websites with similar business models: Bigdeal.sg, Deal.com.sg, Socialdeal and Vocherwow. not a bad news to us consumers, as competition will create more variety for us haha. do check out these websites and who noes, you may snag a great deal!

CIMB Star Saver

March 26, 2010 3 comments

wanted to save a portion of my monthly salary in some deposit acct, such as POSB mysavings or Citi step-up acct. but the interest rate for these 2 accts are nt really tt attractive. though citi step-up acct can earn int up to 0.75% (which is considered nt too bad for a savings acct), tt will only happen after a few mths. so while browsing, i came across an attractive savings acct by CIMB – star saver acct.

extract from its website (http://www.cimbbank.com.sg/):

Features
Minimum deposit S$5,000.

Month-end incremental deposit
Interest Rate
S$500 or more
1.0%** p.a.
Less than S$500
0.5% p.a.
Interest accrued daily and compounded monthly.
No restriction on withdrawals.
Free cheque books.
Monthly statements.
How to top up your month-end balance.
We offer you many ways to top up the month-end balance of your CIMB StarSaver Account by S$500 or more each month.
You choose the top-up method
You can top up the month-end balance in your account easily – through hassle-free Interbank GIRO, mail-in cheque or deposit at our branch.
You choose how regularly you want to top-up
You can either make regular monthly deposits of S$500 or more, or make periodic lump sum deposits to enjoy the 1.0% p.a. maximum interest.

CIMB will automatically convert your lump sum deposits into equal portions of S$500 a month so that you enjoy the 1.0% p.a.1 maximum interest on your entire savings balance over the months ahead.

it is really quite gd cos u get to earn 1% interest (much higher than normal savings acct and higher than other banks’ monthly savings acct) with just a min of $5000 initial deposit and a monthly savings of at least $500.

Dialogue in the Dark

November 12, 2009 2 comments

some budget is set aside every yr for grad connection events, with e aim of connecting graduate trainees of both IB and WM of each batch. yest was our batch’s first grad connection event. supposed to b a BBQ, but due to e potential bad weather at this time of e year, e event was changed to sth tt none of us had experienced before – dialogue in the dark.

we hav nt even heard of it before la. so all who went were pretty excited abt it. we boarded a chartered bus from our office and headed to ngee ann poly at abt 6plus pm after work. reached e venue at 7 or so and we had some briefing before e actual thing starts.

dialogue in the dark at ngee ann poly

some extracts from its website:

“What if you had to go through your daily routine without seeing anything?

Dialogue in the Dark Singapore puts visitors in everyday situations – except in complete darkness. Simple things like crossing the street or visiting a hawker centre suddenly become extraordinary challenges.

Blind guides lead visitors through simulated environments. In the darkness, visitors are forced to rely on their other senses. Role reversal takes place. The blind become the ones with mobility and confidence.

Darkness opens visitors to new ways of experiencing the world around them. Visitors learn what it means to live without sight. In having to navigate darkened environments, they also appreciate the value of effective communication and understand those who see the world differently.”

interesting huh?

and this was a description of wad we went thru in our 1-hour tour:

“You begin your journey into the dark in a group of around eight people. Everyone in the tour is given a white cane. Anything that emits light or sound is covered or silenced. A blind guide will accompany you every step of the way to make sure you feel safe and secure.

Then the journey begins…

As you inch slowly in darkness, you come to an open park with plants, benches, and a fountain. The sound of birds and water completes this invisible landscape.

Boarding a boat, you sail down the Singapore River until you reach the city. Moving into town, you will have to navigate a typical Singaporean housing estate and face challenges like crossing the street through the noise of traffic.

The tour comes to a close as visitors are led to a coffeeshop, still within the darkness. Here you may have a drink and chat with your guide before ending your journey.”

it was a really great and unique experience for all of us. in pitch darkness, we learnt to communicate and express ourselves better. we learnt to b less judgmental. we learnt to trust our colleagues and help each other. we better appreciate how blessed we are with e sense of sight. we leanrt more abt e visually handicapped. and we all had fun. big thank you to serene, our guide! oh btw, this place is actually open to e public (admission at $20 for adults and $12 for students). so do experience it f0r urself!

our first grad connection event - dialogue in the dark

we left ngee ann poly at 9plus pm and our bus brought us to pasta inc., an italian restaurant at jalan besar for our super late dinner! it was a cosy little resturant and our first time there. everyone had a set dinner each and also ordered some starters like calamari to share. my menu: seafood soup, angel hair pasta with crayfish and scallop, cooked aglio olio style, and tiramisu. everything was nt bad, except tt e pasta was kinda overcooked. haha. but since it is free, shall nt grumble much.

dinner ended at abt 11pm and home sweet home after tt. a really great time with other grads. looking forward to e next event! haha.

yest we had a programmers’ outing at this zi char place called 东亚. it is at keong siak road, near outram park mrt. highly recommended! haha. 9 of us ordered a total of 7 dishes – signature tofu (must-try!), claypot chicken (good too!), kang kong, omelette, cereal prawn, sweet-&-sour pork and seafood soup. we all had a very filling and fulfilling dinner man. and e price was reasonable, jus abt $11 each. a nice place tt i will go back again with my family haha.

great food at affordable prices

great food at affordable prices

today went to my old house there for breakfast and there is a new hair salon: snip avenue. it is at blk 509 jurong west st 51 (ex- town council building). it is a big salon at very affordable prices! haha. can you believe it, a hair cut (all lengths) is only $3.80! wow. and haircut + wash + blow + style = $7.80! goodness, even cheaper than the barber la! and for those who wanna colour their hair, it is only $18 for short hair, $28 for medium length and $38 for long hair. where to find this kind of prices?? and if u think e service or quality is low, it is nt ha. i think it is comparable to any neighbourhood hair salon. i will definitely go back there until they decide to raise their prices haa.

World’s Best Job?

January 16, 2009 1 comment

as most final year students are frantically looking for a job right now, there is one job tt will certainly catch e eyes of many.

job title: island caretaker
job scope: relax on Hamilton Island, stroll the white sands, soak up the sun, snorkel the reef, feed the turtles, watching the whales and report to a global audience via weekly blogs, photo diaries and video updates
length of contract: 6 months, starting 1 July 2009
salary: A$150,000
job perks: stay rent-free in a multimillion-dollar 3-bedroom beach home, complete with pool and golf buggy

hamilton island, australia

hamilton island, australia

chanced upon this piece of news on yahoo yest haha. Australia’s Queensland state’s tourism board is looking for one person (from anywhere in e world) to fill up this position. if interested, do apply before 22 feb 2009 and compete with 2000 ppl (as of today) for this one job! haha.

a very creative idea by e tourism body huh. instead of doing e usual like advertising on TV, magazines, travel shows etc, they came up with this idea to market hamilton island as THE tourist destination. haha. at least they succeed in making ppl from all over e world to noe of this sunny island off queensland’s coast. in just 3 days, there were more than a million clicks on its website which caused it to crash!

but thinking of it, issit really e world’s best job? wld you wanna spend 6 mths like tt, doing nothing and jus lazing ard e beach by urself? hmmm doesnt seem like a great job to me, although e money is one very huge motivation! A$150,000 for 6 mths! goodness haha.

明天以后

明天以后 – a lovely duet by 林峰 and 泳儿. like this song very much and it is currently e most frequently played song on my playlist!

在你最痛苦的时候陪你度过

合: 明天的以后我们会懂
失恋的挫折让人变更成熟

泳儿: 有天我会找到我的唯一
林峰: 我并不是你的唯一
合: 还微笑祝福你
